TRANSPORT campaigners in Wharfedale are mourning the death, at the age of 89, of Mr Alan Sutcliffe of Ilkley, a former British Railways senior planner, who for many years was active in local rail and bus groups, and was a noted expert on timetables.
He had been a resident at Glen Rosa in Ilkley for several years and was recently interviewed by members of the Ilkley U3A Rail Group who were fascinated by his knowledge and insight into railway politics during the Beeching years of the 1960s.
His funeral will be at Skipton Crematorium on Monday. September 21. For details 07778 860178.
