YOUNGER people are being targeted in a social media campaign to prevent burglaries.
Neighbourhood Watch, wary of a rise in break-ins as the lockdown eases, has teamed up with the Home Office to produce #Safety in Neighbours.
The campaign aims to promote the idea that ‘life’s safer when you know your neighbours - with more people looking out for unusual behaviour on your street, burglaries can be prevented’. It features an animated graphic showing lights coming on along a street, with the message ‘There’s Safety in Neighbours’.
The design is intended to stand out on social media and appeal to the 20 to 50 year old age group, with the campaign focusing on the country’s most high-risk areas for burglary, which includes West Yorkshire.
Neighbourhood Watch is also advising people to implement a combination of security measures to protect their homes - for more details visit https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/.
