A CROWDFUNDING appeal to treat residents at a nursing home has raised more than six times its original target.
Julie Watson hoped to raise £100 to buy a few treats for staff and residents at Ghyll Royd Nursing Home in Guiseley - but donations have been pouring in, bringing the total on Wednesday to £685.
Julie says a client of hers is currently in the home and has been confined to her room for a few weeks after succumbing to Covid 19.
She says: “The home is in lockdown and many residents may be feeling quite low in morale. The staff are working tirelessly to assist and care for residents as best they can in extremely difficult circumstances.
Julie, who runs Yeadon florist Phoenix Lily arranged for a local singer to perform in the courtyard. Melody Reed has volunteered to sing for free on Tuesday, June 2. As an added thought Julie appealed for donations to buy treats.
She said: “If you are able to help, Thank you so much. It would mean a world of difference and help to spread some smiles.”
