THE lucky winners of the ‘Ilkley’s Got Heart’ Save a Life campaign prize draw have been announced, after the lifesaving campaign saw over 500 people locally completing the online first aid course.

All those who completed the free on-line course before December 31 were entered into the prize draw.

The winners, drawn at random, receive a voucher for £100, £50 or £25 which can be spent with any Ilkley businesses who is a member of Ilkley BID Ltd.

BID Manager, Helen Rhodes said: “The Ilkley’s Got Heart Save a Life campaign was sponsored by the Ilkley BID and supported by local groups and businesses.

“We have been delighted with the response of businesses in the town, who have encouraged employees and customers to learn first aid.”

The course was developed by Ilkley based Virtual College, Qualsafe Ltd and the charity ‘Community Save a Life Scheme’ (CSALS), to help get more people trained nationally in basic first aid.

The Ilkley’s Got Heart campaign was launched in September by the Ilkley Community Network group and was also sponsored by Virtual College, Westbrook Agency, PACO First Aid and Bradford MDC.

The course consists of five short online modules including CPR, stroke, choking and bleeding and on successful completion of the module each learner receives a printable certificate.

For those who have not yet registered, the course usually takes less than an hour to complete and is still available at www.ilkleysgotheart.co.uk which directs you to the appropriate Virtual College website page.

Helen added: “Ilkley BID was very happy to support the Ilkley’s Got Heart campaign, helping make Ilkley a safer place for residents, employees and visitors.

“We felt that the campaign was an excellent way to encourage people to access training to equip them with the basic, but essential skills, to give first aid and potentially save lives.”
