YEADON’S household waste recycling centre has been reopened.

The site, on Milner’s Road, had been closed by Leeds City Council as part of its response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

But the authority has been reopening its tips, in stages, over the past two weeks and on Monday, May 18 it was the Yeadon site’s turn.

Only the Otley centre at Ellar Ghyll - which the council has warned poses particular problems in terms of ensuring social distancing due to to its ‘challenging access issues’ - now remains closed.

All of the opened sites are being run on a strict ‘essential trips only’ (for waste that ‘cannot be stored safely at home’) basis and require visiting slots to be booked online.

More details can be found at www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/bins-and-recycling/recycling-sites, where a statement says: “We are exploring options for the safe opening of Otley (Ellar Ghyll) site. Keep checking back here for updates.”
