ILKLEY knows all about flooding and the mess and misery that can go with it. For Yorkshire the weather has been particularly unkind to the Calder Valley and Mytholmroyd has taken the brunt of the flooding. Buildings that have been in place for over a 100 years have flooded. It is not just river water that is the problem it is also raw sewage bursting up through the manhole covers. The Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale organised within four days a collection at Booths Supermarket to help. The Saturday collection was right on the button as more bad weather struck overnight. A spokesman said: “Rotary Clubs work together when needed and this time the £520 raised goes straight to the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge to make sure the money goes to those who need it most. Importantly every penny goes in full to the cause, there are no management charges. Thank you Booths for your support and thank you Ilkley for your generosity.
