ARMY Cadets have been demonstrating their skills to Otley’s Town Mayor.
Councillor Peter Jackson visited cadets from C company, which includes the Otley Detachment, at Strensall Camp on Saturday, February 15. He was accompanied by fellow guests the Vice Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Tim Hare, and his wife, Diana.
The cadets, who receive training on their weekend camps, gave demonstrations on weapon drills, radio communications and first aid.
Cllr Jackson said: “I was extremely proud to be able to spend some time with all the cadets and especially our own Otley Detachment, which included four new members.
“The first aid training they receive is advanced and they demonstrated their skills with perfection. It is heart-warming to see cadets enjoying themselves whilst learning new skills.”
