CHILDREN from Moorfield School and Nursery braved a cold afternoon on December 11 to entertain shoppers and residents in Ilkley.
A variety of traditional and modern Christmas songs were performed by Moorfield choir at the bandstand, including solo performances from boys and girls.
Moorfield School and Nursery aim to raise money to help improve and make the play area at the Ilkley Riverside Memorial Gardens the most inclusive playground around. Head of Moorfield, Tina Herbert, said encouraging care and respect for everyone and thinking of others in the wider community was an important value at Moorfield. She said: βAt Moorfield, we want our children to understand that they can make a difference to people around them. Children who are engaged with their communities develop empathy and compassion and begin to see that doing things for others benefits everyone.β
