A NEW member has been welcomed onto Ilkley Town Council. Jonathan Walsh took his seat at a meeting this week.
Leader of the Green Party councillors Ros Brown said: “We would like to congratulate Jonathan for winning the Ilkley North Ward by-election. Jonathan is a very approachable person who cares deeply for the environment and is looking forward to serving the residents of Ilkley.”
Cllr Walsh thanked everyone who had voted for him and said he would work hard to improve the town for current and future residents.
“I believe that doing what is good for the environment in the town will ultimately benefit us all,” he said.
Cllr Walsh brings the number of Green Party councillors to four. Cllr Jackie Thompson has left the Green Party and joined Labour.
Cllr Brown said: “Jackie remains committed to tackling climate change and ensuring environmental protections.”
