AN ‘INSPIRATIONAL’ Guide Dogs fundraiser has narrowly missed out on winning a major award.
Kevin Beesting, from Yeadon, was one of two runners-up in the Inspirational Person of the Year category of this year’s Guide Dogs People Awards.
The 68 year old - who has his own Guide Dog, Spencer - was nominated by Community fundraiser Charlotte Walton for being ‘someone who has overcome personal challenges, made a difference to other visually impaired people’s lives and inspired others’.
As Co-ordinator of the Otley and Aireborough Guide Dogs Support Group Mr Beesting has raised more than £15,000. He has also taken part in a number of tough fundraising events including a 100k challenge and the Yorkshire Three Peaks. He said he was ‘overwhelmed’ to have been nominated for the award.
