THE GREEN Party candidate for the Ilkley North Ward by-election has been announced

Jonathan Walsh has lived in Ilkley for more than 10 years and grew up in West Yorkshire. He lives in the centre of town with his wife and two children.

Since graduating in Environmental Science, he has spent his career in the IT industry and now runs major change programmes as a consultant.

Mr Walsh says he is keen to contribute to the town and its environment by working on the town council to address local issues in a sustainable way.

He said: “Being local to the Ilkley North Ward I will work with residents and a range of agencies and local groups to protect and improve our beautiful riverside environment and recreational facilities. I am also aware of the potential impact of development on the old Middleton Hospital site in Carters Lane. Concerns are already expressed by some residents about vehicles speeding into town along Curly Hill where people enjoy the woods. Over-development of the Carters Lane site would exacerbate this problem. I am keen to represent residents living in Ilkley North and to work with and challenge Ilkley Town Council and Bradford Council to get the best for Ilkley North’s residents.”

The by-election will take place on November 28.
