REFURBISHMENT work on a closed pub at Arthington looks set to start soon.

Star Pubs & Bars told the Wharfedale & Aireborough Observer in August that it was planning to reopen The Wharfedale after teaming up with a ‘new operator’ to give it a major revamp.

Now the company has submitted a planning application which is seeking permission to install new signage, including four illuminated signs and eight of the non-illuminated variety, at the inn.

Its online listing for the pub, on Arthington Lane, says: “Exciting Opportunity - Refurbishment Planned!

“With three en-suite letting rooms and unspoilt views The Wharfedale, post-refurbishment, will be an attractive, country-style pub with a modern finish where customers will love to spend time and enjoy this standout destination-dining venue.”

Star Pubs & Bars has also said it is aiming for the new licensee of The Wharfedale to rebuild its reputation for ‘excellent food’.
