PEOPLE can learn more about the work of a care trust at a meeting next week.

The public will be told about the latest performance figures for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and its upcoming priorities.

And a patient’s story will be used to highlight the provision of the so-called individual placement and support employment service.

Its specialists – part of community mental health teams across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven – work in partnership with other professionals to support people to find paid employment.

People referred to the service are helped to create an employment plan, including a CV, and are given advice on work-related benefits.

Bob Collins, the trust’s employment service lead, says more than 200 people have been helped to find work and the facility has been recognised as a national centre of excellence.

He added: “For many people using mental health services, having a job is an important part of recovery. People benefit from being in employment as it offers a greater sense of purpose and wellbeing as well as providing structure and an income.”

Anyone from the district is invited to attend next Thursday's (Sept 26) board meeting, at New Mill, Victoria Road, Saltaire, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. For more about the employment service, visit bdct.nhs.uk/services/making-work-work.
