A NEW monthly ‘community night’ is starting up in Askwith.
The event, organised by the Village Hall Committee, will be held at the Askwith Arms from 7pm - entertainment from 8.45pm - each month and begins on Thursday, September 26.
The committee, which meets at the pub, came up with the idea as a way of creating a regular ‘village get together’. The Askwith Arms’ licensees, John and Jane Allen, are looking forward to welcoming people and have laid on live music.
Mr Allen said: “The committee is introducing this to help support the community while also supporting the pub. So in return we’ll be putting on act for each night, starting with guitar-vocalist Richard Stirland on September 26.” The Allens reopened the pub - formerly The Black Horse, which had been closed for some time - as the Askwith Arms at the end of 2018.
