THE WHARFEDALE and Aireborough Observer would like to apologise to Wharfedale German Circle for an unfortunate error, introduced during editing, in a recent article about their summer party. Below is their unedited article in full:

'Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte' – a bit of a tongue twister but a delight to the palate, and just one of the mouth-watering gateaux enjoyed by members of the Wharfedale German Circle at their annual Sommerfest on Sunday, August 11.

Also on offer were ample helpings of Bienenstich, Pflaumenkuchen, Käsekuchen mit Blaubeeren and Franzbrötchen washed down with German sparkling wine as well as tea and coffee.

Members were entertained with dingbats and a quiz on German football, music, films and much more. The afternoon whizzed by in a friendly atmosphere and special thanks are due to our chairman, Marilyn Heron, for co-ordinating the event and baking the cakes.

New members are always welcome. For further information, contact us via our website. http://germancircle.ilkley.org .

By the way, if you are still wondering, Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte is Black Forest gateau. Yummy!
