STUDENTS and staff at Benton Park School are celebrating another set of positive GCSE results.

A school spokesman said there were lots of smiling faces as students opened their results. A quarter of all the grades obtained were grade 7 or above, with three quarters of the grades being 4 and above.

The school says students achieved an impressive number of grade 9s.

Some particularly excellent results were seen by a group of students who swept the board with a significant number of grade 9s between them. Marcus Wardell achieved 9 of the top grades, Daniel Hoos achieved 7, and the following students all achieved at least 3 grade 9s - Bevan Ryley, Milo Critchett, Joe Pilling, Jason Bakes, Ewan Cooper, Jamie Paxton, Melanie Short, Caitlin Skelton, Charlotte Williams. None of the grades they achieved were below a grade 7, and their performance was described by the school as "outstanding".

Headteacher, Delia Martin said: "It has been a privilege to share our students’ successes with them today. As a school we are incredibly proud of them all and the results they have achieved, which reflect five years of hard work, effort, determination and resilience. I would like to thank the staff for all the hard work and support they provide for all our students, as well as our very supportive parents and carers; it really is a team effort. I would like to wish all our students well for the future and am delighted to be welcoming so many of them back into our Sixth Form where I am sure they will continue their academic success."
