THE Addingham Beer Festival celebrates its ninth year of supporting local causes on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5 at The Addingham Memorial Hall.
In total to date, the event has resulted in the distribution of more than £60,000, mainly to local community groups and occasionally in response to international emergencies.
A spokesman for Addingham Beer Festival said: “Real ale has always been the primary offering, but instead of the stereotypical Tweed and flatcap event that often accompanies it, the Addingham Beer Festival is much more of a village fete, welcoming everyone and offering alternative refreshments along with tasty food from local restaurants.
“As with past years, 2019 will see over 800 people attending across four sessions.
“There will be real ale, lager, craft beer, cider and Prosecco as well as a selection of gins. There will also be “free soft drinks” for designated drivers and non-drinkers.
“La Casita will provide the food on Friday night, the Addingham Social Club will provide pie & peas on Saturday afternoon and The Swan Pub will provide food on Saturday evening.
“Saturday afternoon sees the return of the quiz team competition and as always, there will be a live band on Saturday night.
“The committee, who are all local volunteers, have this year worked to diversify the representation and reflect more the makeup of the community with the addition of two women to the committee. They have also vastly reduced the average age of the committee with their newest male colleague who is young enough to have no grey hair at all.

Groups who benefited from the 2018 beer festival include: Addingham Active Retired Group, Addingham Brownies, Guides and Scouts, Addingham Churches Together Luncheon and Friendship Group, the local cricket club, drama group, gala, the library, dance and drama group, gardening club, the patient participation group, Addingham School Library, Addingham Alzheimer’s/Totally Locally, Addingham United Charity and LS29.
