OTLEY’S first Cycling Family Fun Day takes place this weekend.

The free event will see all kinds of cycling-related activities - from trying grass ‘skills’ circuits to sampling electric-assisted bikes - being held on Garnett’s Field from 10am to 2pm on Sunday, July 28. A series of guided rides on safe cycling routes will be held and free safety checks will also be offered to all visitors.

One-hour adult and children’s rides can be pre-booked by calling (01943) 466335 or visiting Otley Core on Orchard Gate, while women-only rides can be booked by visiting https://www.letsride.co.uk/breeze.

The fun day, organised by Otley Town Council in partnership with Otley Cycle Club and Chevin Cycles, will also feature a variety of stalls including one from CityConnect where visitors aged 16 or over can sign up for free cycle training and maintenance courses.

Council Chair Councillor Ray Georgeson (Lib Dem, Danefield) said: “Cycling provides a key way for people to significantly reduce their carbon emissions, while also providing great health benefits.” For more details visit visitotley.co.uk/otley-cycling-hub/otley-cycling-family-fun-day/ .
