HAIRDRESSERS and barbers are being asked to join a fundraising campaign to help a man who was left paralysed from the waist down after a motocross accident.
Guiseley-based Akito Scissors has launched the campaign to help Mitch Chalmers who was 22 when he was injured in 2014. The company wants to help raise £56,000 towards revolutionary Epidural Stimulation treatment.
A spokesman said : “Through sheer determination Mitch has since re-trained and pursued his dream of becoming a hairdresser and with the aid of a stand up wheelchair Mitch now works full time as a stylist at James Christopher Hairdressing in Midsomer Norton.”
The company is planning a number of fundraising events throughout 2019, starting with an auction of a pair of Akito F-2 black 5”scissors donated by hairdresser Ben Brown.
The scissors will be auctioned on Sunday, February 3 between 7pm and 8pm GMT through Twitter @Akitoscissors. Visit www.gofundme.com/lets-get-mitch-walking-fiddy1.
The spokesman said: “Ben purchased his scissors in 2017 and has since used them in his educational videos where they have been viewed worldwide an amazing 4,000,000 times.”
