THIS year's Ilkley Scare Trail has been hailed as a huge success after attracting over 3,000 people to the two trails.

Families were entertained by lots of different spooky activities and games while following the Pumpkin Trail around Middleton Woods in Ilkley, with face painting, slime making as well as some more traditional games like apple bobbing. The trail raised thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes, including LS29 Special Needs Group, Addingham Scout Group and the West Yorkshire WSJ leadership team.

The second spooky trail was in upper Middleton woods which saw zombies, spooks and scary clowns terrorising people as they made their way through the darkness along a 2km walk in upper Middleton Woods.

Event planners Paul Jennings and Daniel Rodley were overwhelmed by the support from the people and businesses of Ilkley and surrounding areas. They said: "We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone for coming, and local businesses for their generosity and support, Bradford Council for allowing us to use the woods and their support during the day, as well as the residents of Curly Hill for being so patient, and particularly to Rob, the very kind resident who spent the afternoon filling our water bottles!"

The Scare Trail will announce how much has been raised once the accounts have been finalised, but it is looking like a record breaking year for the event which started in 2015. Winners of the competitions will also be announced on social media soon.
