A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and back in a “targeted attack” on Saturday evening.

Police were called to Greenlea Avenue, Yeadon at about 9pm.

A police spokesperson said a man was found with serious stab injuries after he had been assaulted.

The spokesperson added: “The 19-year-old, who had injuries to his neck and back, was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

“His injuries were not considered life threatening and he is in a stable condition and continuing to receive treatment.”

One passer-by said the incident happened on a patch of grass just off Greenlea Avenue.

They added that there were around four ambulances with crews working on the victim who was laying on the grass. The area was taped off with scenes put in place while it underwent forensic examination, according to police.

Detective Inspector David Roberts, of Leeds District CID, said: “While our investigation is still at a relatively early stage, we believe this has been a targeted attack on the victim.”
