THE ROYAL British Legion has launched a movement to say Thank You to to all who served, sacrificed, and changed the world during the First World War.

The charity is calling for mass involvement from the public to recognise the legacy left by the entire First World War generation.

The movement honours not only the 1.1 million members of the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces who lost their lives but also those who played their part on the home front, and those who returned to build a better life for the benefit of generations to come.

Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew visited the Royal British Legion’s stand at the Conservative Party Conference.

He said: “We all have a connection to the First World War and we all have a reason to say ‘Thank You’ to this special generation. From the farmers who gave up their horses to the war effort; to the women who kept our home fires burning we should indeed all be eternally grateful for what our brave men and women did for us during the First World War.”
