A ROYAL British Legion concert in Otley has raised £1,160 for the Poppy Appeal.
The event, featuring music from Otley Brass Band and the Chippendale Singers, took place at Otley All Saints Parish Church on Saturday, October 13.
The Royal British Legion’s Otley branch secretary, Doris Gagen, said: “The concert was great - we had between 160 and 180 people in the church where the acoustics for the musicians were fantastic.
“Everyone had a good evening and the rendition of Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem by the brass band, Chippendale Singers, choir and the entire audience could be heard from quite a long way.
“Grateful thanks to the performers, the church staff and all the Legion and non-Legion people who sold tickets, made refreshments and passed out song sheets and programmes.
“And a special mention and thanks to the County Standard Bearer and our own Otley Standard Bearer, who carried the standards in to start the evening off.”
