BAKE Off queen Nadiya Hussain is in Ilkley a week ahead of the official start of Ilkley Literature Festival to talk about her new book, ‘Bake me a celebration story’.
This, her third to combine stories and recipes for children, features 30 new recipes and activities plus original stories.
A last few tickets are still available for the event at the Kings Hall on Thursday, September 20 at 6.30pm.
As if that wasn’t tasty enough, the Festival is also running a competition for aspiring bakers to decorate a cake inspired by a book, prizes include a Fondant Fancy Party Cake from Bettys, tickets to see Jacqueline Wilson and Terry Deary at ILF18 and a mini hamper from LoveBrownies. As ever there is plenty taking place for all ages at this years Festival, including an appearance from CBBC and BBC Radio One agony aunt Katie Thistleton who will be on hand to give advice to teens on Monday, October 8 at 6.30pm, Ilkley Playhouse.
Two more writers for young adults, US based Jewell Parker Rhodes, the author of New York Times bestseller ‘Ghost Boys’, and Brit Muhammad Khan - a maths teacher in a secondary school in Tooting who takes his inspiration from the children he teaches as well as his own upbringing as a British-born Pakistani, will be at Ilkley Playhouse on Thursday 4 October to explore their writing and how young people cope in today’s world.
