SUNDAY , July1 came around and Ilkley Soul Club rolled into town once more (a week later than usual, making way for the Bridlington Weekender June 22-24).

This month their invited guest DJ was the infamous Glenn Walker-Foster of Soulnet Radio in Blackpool.

The afternoon was very busy as usual with people again coming from all over the North of England.

GW-F brought in supporters from Blackpool of course, but there were also attendees from Clitheroe, Burnley and Blackburn, as well as Leeds, Bradford and York.

And once again people began to arrive early, so the music started at 2.30pm.

Glenn Walker-Foster played an outstanding extended set of pounding Northern Soul originals from about 5.30pm until 7.15pm, when organisers Barry Innocenti and Ian Smith took over to “double-deck” for the last 45 minutes.

All-in-all it was another memorable afternoon of pure Northern Soul and Tamla Motown in an authentic and friendly atmosphere.

Ilkley Soul Club all kicks-off again on Sunday, July 29, at the Hollygarth Social Club, Ilkley, from 3pm to 8pm,when guest DJ’s Mick Nichols and Steve Sowerbutts will be spinning their personal vinyl interpretations of this phenomena known as Northern Soul.
