A man accused of a stabbing attack on a Bradford street is being transferred from prison to a psychiatric hospital for assessment.
Cameron Hussain, 28, of Harris Street, central Bradford, was charged with attempted murder but he now falls to be sentenced for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on October 5 last year.
Police were called to an incident on Harris Street in which a 34-year-old man had injuries consistent with being stabbed in the chest and legs.
Yesterday, Hussain was brought from custody to Bradford Crown Court where his barrister Frances Pencheon said that three psychiatrists agreed that he should be assessed under the terms of an interim hospital order for an initial period of 12 weeks.
Judge Jonathan Rose directed that Hussain be transferred from prison to a psychiatric hospital as soon as a bed is available to see if his illness is treatable.
The case was adjourned until September 1 when the judge will determine the type of sentence Hussain will receive.
