A WARRINGTON based contracting developer has submitted plans to build a community hub in Runcorn.

The Land End Group in Thelwall, in partnership with the Williams Tarr Group has recently submitted the plans to provide residents in Sandymoor with a convenience store, nursery and housing for over 55s.

Lane End anticipates the proposed mixed development on the vacant site that surrounds Sandymoor Community Hall will be well received by the community.

The project provides elderly living facilities and a number of retail opportunities which will offer added convenience for residents living in the district.

It will consist of 43 one and two bedroom apartments, as well as five bungalows, a children’s day nursery and six retail units.

The developer is in discussions with a national convenience store operator, which Lane End hope to announce shortly should planning be granted.

Richard Harrison, managing director of the Lane End Group, said: "This is a really impressive development as it fuses the challenges of bringing in much needed over 55s housing stock into the area with some excellent commercial opportunities for retailers that will bring added value and convenience to Sandymoor.

"There is little housing stock in this part of Runcorn that is designed for over 55s living and our plans provide exactly that.

"We believe this new district centre will be a popular and vibrant part of the community in Sandymoor which is good news for Halton."
