A BRADFORD law firm is celebrating after growing over the last 20 years from a team of just six to more than 160, spread across three offices.

Schofield Sweeney, based in Church Bank in Bradford city centre, has been marking its 20th anniversary and celebrating its growth over the past two decades.

After starting out as a six-person team, the company, founded by Chris Schofield and Martin Sweeney, now has more than 160 staff across offices in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield.

The firm has enjoyed consistent and profitable growth since 1998, and now has revenues of around £11 million, and in the first quarter of 2018 has seen a 60% increase in levels of business.

Chris Schofield, chair, said: “Our 20th anniversary is a milestone for the firm and I.

“Over the last 20 years I think that we have kept our focus on providing Yorkshire SMEs and their managers with a specialist, modern, high quality service at an appropriate price.

“We have – like our best clients – invested profits in building up the business by adding to the range of services we can offer.

“We have consistently invested in the best possible people and IT and personally I’m very proud of what our people have built.

“I am always impressed with our team here and I’m proud that we are genuinely committed to diversity in our partnership and our workforce.

“We have always tried to get to know our clients and we invest time in them. This is a core value of our business.”

Managing partner Martin Sweeney added: “We have achieved a lot and we are ambitious enough to achieve a whole lot more.

“We wouldn’t have been able to develop the firm in the way that we have without the support of our clients, professionals and the people who work in the firm.

“I would like to take the opportunity that our 20th anniversary presents to thank them.”

The firm offers a wide range of legal support for a number of sectors, and represents household names including the PDSA, HSBC and Arla Foods.

It also supports local charities and community groups through fundraising and also through pro-bono work.
