ATTENTION to detail and ensuring customers have a warm and welcoming experience has earned Taylormade Treats, in Eldwick, the retail, leisure and hospitality crown in this year’s awards.

It is owned and run by Ruth Taylor and has been at Eldwick for five years.

Customers describe the food and cakes as amazing with a full table service which makes it a treat in a cafe environment.

The cafe endeavours to create a relaxed and friendly family experience, catering for everyone including those with food allergies and intolerances.

Starting the business was prompted by a spell of ill health.

“It was all a bit of a life-changing experience really,” she explained.

“When I was pregnant with my second child I found out I had cancer.

“After I had her and after having treatment - I’m all clear now - I asked myself did I want to carry on working for someone else for the rest of my life or did I just want to take that leap?”

Taylormade Treats is in Swan Avenue, Eldwick, offering cafe menus, outside catering, wedding and celebration cakes and cupcakes.

Ruth already has one accolade under her belt - that of Cake and Bake winner of the Professional Cake Display as judged by Gregg Wallis, Rosemary Shrager and Eric Lanlard.

Customers enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and many of her cake orders come from recommendations from satisfied customers.

The customer who nominated Ruth said: “Ruth is just amazing.

“My little boy has food allergies to gluten and dairy and Ruth always goes out of her way to make sure there is food available for all diet types. Such a lovely thought.

“The cafe is spotless and very clean. The best place to be.”

Ruth also provides gift ideas for such occasions as Mother’s Day such as vouchers and afternoon tea treats and giant cookies.

The cafe is open Tuesday to Saturday. Sundays can be pre-booked for private parties and events only.
