A Bradford cycle shop has been short-listed for a national award.
Pennine Cycles, of Thornton Road, is one of five finalists in the independent retailer category of the BikeBiz Awards 2012, which has a total of 16 categories, and will be revealed on September 26 on the eve of the Cycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
Managing director Paul Corcoran, who has run the business with wife Sandra for 12 years, said: “This is fantastic news for our business and great for Bradford too especially, with Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France and all the Olympic successes in cycling which can only encourage more people to get on their bikes.”
Pennine Cycles also makes custom-built bicycle frames on the premises, a tradition which began in 1947 with the first Whitaker & Mapplebeck model used by Thornton cyclist and 1952 Tour of Britain winner Ken Russell.
