NESTLED between Skipton and Keighley on Colne Road in Cross Hills, Beanlands Nursing Home is a grand building with delightful gardens where residents grow their own vegetables – amongst many other exciting activities.  With a caring community spirit that really sets it apart, residents are proud to call it their home.

Owned and operated by Bradford-based family firm, Czajka Care Group, the home was recently rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with its inspectors praising the positive interaction between staff and residents, and commending the numbers of well-trained staff present to meet people’s needs in a timely manner. The glowing report also highlighted the fact the team at Beanlands understand how residents liked their care to be delivered, and admired the home’s programme of activities and the varied choices available at meal times.

The home also has the coveted Investors in People accreditation, as well as an excellent infection control rating, and the prestigious Gold Standard Framework Accreditation Quality Hallmark Award.

Run by registered manager, Janet Fryer, who is ably supported by deputy manager, Denise Jackson, and a team of qualified nurses, care and support staff, there is even a dedicated activities manager who makes sure there is plenty to keep everyone entertained.

A truly magnificent home, life is never dull at Beanlands, with regular fetes, fairs and excursions to the theatre, races and cinema, which are part of everyday life. The large vegetable patches are used by residents and Czajka’s gardening team, to grow a wide range of nutritious treats, as well as fruits and flowers. The attractive area includes paved pathways and raised planter-style sections that are fully wheelchair-accessible, and residents love being outside – weather permitting!

With two light-filled, large lounges, and a huge conservatory that offers lovely views of the immaculately kept grounds, Beanlands Nursing Home is a place where people always feel at home. Residents can choose to have their meals with friends in the dining room or served in their own rooms. High-speed WiFi means everyone can stay connected with friends and family, and visitors are welcome anytime.

All rooms are fitted with quality furniture, an individual nurse call system and televisions, and residents bring personal items, such as small pieces of furniture, photographs, ornaments, and other treasured mementoes, to help make their room their own. A number of ground-floor rooms have patio doors which open out onto the terraces and gardens.

Registered manager, Janet Fryer, said: “Our Gold Standard Framework accreditation recognises our continued high standards, and our Investors in People award demonstrates our commitment to developing staff - but it’s not all about awards. It’s about the family feel and caring ethos we have here. We regularly receive lovely messages from the families of people we have cared for, like this one:

“Thank you so much for the fantastic care my mum has received over the past ten years. It has turned such a negative stage in life into a positive, and has been so appreciated by all her family. I really don't know where we would have been without you all, and, at the end of her journey, she has been surrounded by very special people. With sincere thanks.”

Beanlands really is a special place, and we are opening our doors this month to help as many people as possible experience this first-hand, by offering a free day of respite care during January.  With a limited number of places available for new residents, we thought this would be a great way of people to find out more about our wonderful home.

Anyone wanting to book a free day of respite care during January, should call 01274 599564. For further information about Czajka Care Group and its homes visit www.czajka.co.uk
