ACORN Stairlifts, which now earns more than half its revenues from overseas sales, has won a regional export award for the second time in two years.

The Steeton-based firm was among the region's fastest-growing companies recognised at the Growth 100 awards. Acorn also picked up the export prize in 2012.

David Belmont, company secretary, who collected the award, said:" As one of the fastest growing companies in Yorkshire, we are delighted that our strong export record during the past few years has been recognised in this way,

“In the last four years, exports from Acorn’s UK factories have more than doubled from £31million to £71million and 56 per cent of our revenues now come from outside the UK. With offices in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and mainland Europe, Acorn is perfectly placed to continue its export growth in the coming years."

To be included in the Growth 100 list, companies must show a continuous rise in turnover for five years, starting from a base of £1million.
