Dozens of people in the world of sports, business and politics gathered to honour two Pakistani Paralympic athletes at a Bradford restaurant.
Bradford-based QED-UK, which works towards eradicating disadvantaged in society, and the Mumtaz held the event for Haider Ali and Naeem Masih.
More than 80 guests attended the event with children at Lapage Primary School in Barkerend including Sonia Ellahi who suffers from a disability.
QED-UK deputy chief executive Adeeba Malik said: “I’m a governor of the school and I’d invited the children to join in the reception because it’s such a powerful message and positive for them to see disabled people achieving such great things.
“It was so moving to see Sonia attend, and so beautifully turned out in her best earrings and sparkly headband. She gave a wonderful speech to the athletes about sport and why she was so glad to be there.”
The athletes were sponsored by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.
