School leaders will hold a briefing on forced academies this month.
The Bradford branch of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) will be holding the briefing, which is open to all and is a chance for teachers and educational professionals to find out more about the issues surrounding forced academies.
Speaker Rob Kelsall, a senior regional officer at the NAHT, will discuss a test case in which a primary school in Lancashire was recently stopped from becoming a forced academy.
Mr Kelsall said: “One point I always wish to get across is the fact that, despite the myths out there, just five per cent of primary schools have either been persuaded or forced to go academy status, which is somewhat of a surprise to many as they are often told that they ought to become academies now as everyone else is doing it.”
The briefing will be on Thursday, September 20, at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford, at 4pm.
