Otley Town Football Club is celebrating a £5,000 cash boost.
The money, from Leeds City Council’s North West (Outer) Area Committee, will go towards a £29,000 project to modernise and improve the club’s facilities.
The work will include: l Refurbishing the referees' dressing rooms and clubhouse l Building a new double garage and toilet l Repairing the roof.
Chairman of the North West (Outer) Area Committee, Councillor Paul Wadsworth (Con, Guiseley & Rawdon), said: “It’s great news that we’ve been able to help Otley Town with this money towards their new facilities.”
The club plays an important role in Otley, providing an outlet to burn off excess energy and have some fun while keeping fit. It acts as a social hub in the town that helps to bind the community together.
“The new facilities will ensure the club continues to provide generations of Otley people with a valued community asset at the heart of the town.”
Based at the Old Showground, off Pool Road, Otley Town AFC includes a range of community-based football teams running from the under sevens through to seniors.
