A secondary school in Bradford organised its own mini Olympic Games, with one pupil, who was an official torchbearer last month, taking centre stage.
Tyanna Beresford, 12, of Heaton, who carried the Olympic flame through Thirsk during the 70-day, 8,000 torch relay, is a student at St Joseph’s Catholic College.
Following her moment in the spotlight, the school held its own version of the Olympic Games, with each pupil representing one of six countries – Great Britain, Australia, US, Poland, the Philippines and South Africa.
Each country had 25 representatives for the parade and they marched with their country’s flag.
Tyanna then ran onto the field with the torch she used during the relay, finishing on a podium where she raised the torch aloft. Fireworks were then set off.
