A man has been left permanently deaf after an alleged attack outside a city centre nightclub.

The 29-year-old had been leaving the Cube in Ivegate with his 21-year-old sister in the early hours of the morning.

Last night, detectives released CCTV images of people they want to speak to in connection with the ‘serious assault’. The incident started after the man’s sister got involved in an argument with another woman.

A man is said to have then punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground. A police spokesman said the victim, who was partially-deaf before the attack, had now been left permanently deaf.

The suspect, who left the scene in the direction of Sunbridge Road, is described as white, of medium build and around 6ft tall.

The woman police want to speak to is described as white, with long brown hair and wearing a pink top.

Detective Constable Ellen Battye, of Bradford South CID, said: “We are calling on the public to view these images and let us know if they recognise the individuals captured in the CCTV. It is important that we identify each of them, as they may be able to assist in tracing the person responsible for this assault.

“Although this occurred in the early hours of the morning, it is likely that a number of other people will have been in the area having left nearby clubs.

“This is a serious incident which left the victim with injuries that will likely impact on the rest of his life. If you have information which can assist us, please come forward and get in touch.”

The incident happened at around 4.25am on Sunday, May 6. Any witnesses or anyone with information about those who may be responsible are asked to contact Det Con Battye of Bradford South CID on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
