Children at a Bradford special school were able to see an Olympic torch up close when it was brought in by a woman who took part in the relay.
Torchbearer Lynn Williams, of Keighley, visited Delius Special School in Barkerend Road, Bradford, to speak to children about what it was like to take part in the Special Olympics. Lynn made her first appearance at the Special Olympics World Summer Games more than a year ago in Athens last June – going on to win powerlifting gold, silver and bronze for Britain.
She visited the school and gave two assemblies where she took part in a question and answer session.
Deputy head teacher Rob Cameron said: “Most schools at this time are doing a theme of the Olympics, so this brings it to reality for the children.”
