Kate O’Mara stars in a 65th anniversary production of Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Nile, coming to Bradford next month.
The production, by the Agatha Christie Theatre Company, is described as “a stylish new production of the queen of crime’s classic thriller”. Kate, star of stage and television hits including Dynasty and Bad Girls, is joined by Denis Lill, who starred in ITV medical drama The Royal, partly-filmed at St Luke’s Hospital in Bradford, Susie Amy, of Footballers’ Wives, Chloe Newsome, who was Coronation Street’s Vicky McDonald, Ben Nealon, best-known as Captain Jeremy Forsythe in long-running ITV drama Soldier Soldier, and 60s pop idol Mark Wynter.
On board a steamer, cruising under the scorching Egyptian sun, honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves being pursued by an old flame of the groom. When a body is discovered, all fingers point to Simon’s ex fiancee, but all is not what it seems and holidaying cleric Canon Pennefather is drawn into a web of intrigue and deceit as he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.
Agatha Christie’s stage adaptation of the novel Death On The Nile was first performed in 1944 under the title Hidden Horizon, later opening in the West End and on Broadway as Murder On The Nile in 1946. It runs at the Alhambra from July 16 to 21. For tickets, ring (01274) 432000.
