A 12-year-old Bradford girl was among three people from the district who were involved in today’s Olympic Torch Relay from York to Carlisle.
Tyanna Beresford, of Heaton, who goes to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, is one of the youngest participants in the 8,000-mile torch relay around the country.
She had wanted to carry the flame to make her parents Adam and Carol proud.
Tyanna carried the torch through Thirsk, along with Lisa McLoughlin, 39, of Menston, who works at Bradford’s Ministry of Food centre on John Street.
She was nominated because of her work inspiring people at the food centre and her work in the community.
In addition Diane Park, 52, of Sutton in Craven, carried the flame through Northallerton.
