Harden Gala had music on offer in the form of the New Orleans Marching Jazz band and stalls offering wares and a magician performing tricks on Saturday.

Organiser Peter Bashforth, from the Harden Children’s Gala Society, said that 800 people braved the wind and rain to attend, but the gala wound up early because of the poor conditions.

“The weather could have been a lot better but was not as bad as we have seen,” he said. “But it was damp and there was really heavy rain and it did affect numbers a little bit.”

The event was held in the Memorial Park in Harden.
