Three years ago, Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 only weeks before he was due to appear in the UK for a series of concerts at London’s O2 Arena.
But tomorrow, St George’s Hall is putting on a tribute show, all the way from the USA. Forever Michael stars Tejai Sullivan from Chicago. It will be his first show in the UK.
US producers stumbled across a video of him singing on YouTube and quickly snapped him up to star in a Michael Jackson tribute show for a world tour.
For two years, Tejai headlined the production which also featured choreographer Mic Thompson, who was one of Jackson’s own principal dancers.
During the tour, Mic Thompson said about the star: “Tejai’s performance is flawless. He reminds me so much of Michael it brings a tear to my eye.”
Forever Michael is a new show with an eight-piece band and dancers. Songs include early Jackson 5 hits as well as multi-million sellers such as Thriller and Smooth Criminal.
Tejai Sullivan said: “This is the reason I began performing my tribute – to represent Michael in the best possible way in cities all over the world.
“I have always wanted to perform in the UK and to get the chance while commemorating the third anniversary of his passing just seems the perfect way. We just hope that the fans enjoy our show and we continue to spread Michael’s legacy.”
Tickets are £19 and £17. The box office number is (01274) 432000.
