A refurbished cardiac centre with state-of-the-art equipment has opened at Airedale Hospital.

Improvements mean greater privacy and dignity for patients and include a better patient waiting area and toilet facilities.

They also includes a new state-of-the-art x-ray tube which is safer for both patients and staff as it reduces x-ray dosage.

The original unit opened in January 1993 using money donated to the Rainbow Appeal by local people of Keighley and Skipton.

Procedures carried out in the include coronary angiograms, fitting of pacemakers and the replacement of pacemakers at the end of their battery life.
