Children at Bradford special school Chellow Heights will have chance to try out a range of new bikes at a summer fair this weekend.
A scheme supported by Asda and other businesses is aimed at giving each child access to a bike to enhance motor skills and gain a sense of independence and accomplishment.
Some children will be able to ride unmodified or slightly-adjusted bikes, while others need custom-made ones costing between £2,000 and £5,000 each.
A planned simulated roadway on school grounds will teach pupils in a safe environment complete with traffic lights, crossings, road markings, street signs and shop fronts, at an estimated cost of £35,000.
The fair takes place on Saturday from 11am to 3pm at the school in Thorn Lane, Bingley. There will be a bouncy castle, face painting and a ‘Princess and Superhero’ fancy dress competition.
