Firefighters went to the rescue and managed to move on a calf that got stuck in a water-filled culvert.
The rescue happenend at 8am yesterday after a worried farmer dialled 999.
Henrietta, a Belgian blue, had wandered out of her field at Mill Carr, Hill Lane, in Oakenshaw and in to one of two pipes that run under the M606.
A crew from Cleckheaton attended. One firefighter went to the far end of the 250 yard tunnel while another two of the crew, wearing drysuits, and the farmer crouched their way through into the tunnel and managed to coax the confused calf back out into the field again.
A fire spokesman said: “The farmer had been worried the calf might drown.”
