Community worker Fozia Shaheen has raised more than £260 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal by keeping tight-lipped for 12 hours.
Fozia, a team leader for a learning disability project at the Khidmat Centre in Spencer Road, did not utter a sound between 9am and 9pm on Monday, despite the best efforts of her colleagues to make her break her silence.
She said: “It was hard because I’m usually quite talkative but it was a good experience as it gave me an understanding of what it’s like for people who can’t speak. I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored me.”
The money raised will go to Lord Mayor Councillor Naveeda Ikram’s appeal for Bradford’s Marie Curie Hospice.
