Recovering drug users and alcoholics are re-building their lives by training as volunteers to work with community groups in Keighley.
They are undergoing training before taking up posts with organisations including Keighley Cougars, as part of a project run by drug and alcohol agency Project 6.
Last year, Project 6 asked voluntary groups and businesses to provide placements for its Work and Volunteering Enterprise (WAVE) initiative. Those that signed up also include Keighley Association Women and Children's Centre, Carers Resource, Bradford Community Environment Project and Happy Hours Mobile Creche.
The first group of volunteers began their training this month.
The charity is looking for more organisations willing to provide placements, and is holding a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, May 9. Anyone interested should call Donna Siberry on (01535) 610180 or e-mail: donna.
