A street drug dealer has been jailed after police found diamorphine and cash in a car he was driving.
Tasawar Ali, 29, of Jesmond Avenue, Heaton, Bradford, was stopped by officers in Bingley Road, Shipley, on April 28 last year, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
His car was searched and officers found seven wraps of diamorphine, with a value of £61.50, and £910 in cash, prosecutor Joanna Butler-Savage said.
At the time of the offence he was on licence for other drug-dealing matters.
Sentencing Ali to three years and four months in jail, Recorder Mark Grogan said: “There is no doubt in my mind that these are serious offences.”
Ali had pleaded guilty to possessing the drugs with intent to supply and possessing the £910 – an offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Alistair Bateman, mitigating for Ali, said he was being used by others and was a street dealer at the bottom of the chain.
He had moved house “in an effort to distance himself from the web that has entangled him previously”, Mr Bateman said.
