Food from around the world can be sampled at Keighley’s first Food Festival to be held in the town centre this week.

About 25 stalls trading under a large marquee are expected on Church Green, off Church Street, at the event organised by Bradford Council on Friday and Saturday.

Chefs at local restaurants will be demonstrating their culinary talents throughout the two-day event.

Visitors can munch their way through a whole range of fresh produce from Mediterranean medleys such as olives and feta cheese, Asian curries and chutneys to pies and pickles.

There will be a patisserie, a Polish beer bar, liqueurs and tea and coffee and fruit smoothies.

Soraya Overend, manager of the Jamie Oliver-inspired Ministry of Food Centre in Bradford, will demonstrate how to make simple, tasty meals from fresh products available from local markets.

She said: “I’m looking forward to cooking in the street in Keighley and their first food festival should be a big hit.”
