A Bradford singer is calling on support from the district to help her win a day in the studio with star singer and producer Labrinth.

Naomi Charmaine, of Eccleshill, is in the running for the national competition after submitting her song Let’s Be Lovers in an online vote.

The 27-year-old, who was a semi-finalist in the pop category of the UK Songwriting Contest with the song in 2009, is now seeking votes to help her win the opportunity to work with the pop-rap pioneer.

She said: “If you win the competition Labrinth will produce your song for you. So you will spend a day in the studio and he will produce your song, which is crazy.

“So I would love to win. He’s fantastic as a producer and as an artist as well.”

Labrinth released his debut album this month and it was preceded by hit singles Earthquake, featuring Tinie Tempah, and Last Time, which reached number two and four in the charts respectively.

Naomi said she was currently in sixth place in the competition, and the final choice would be made between the last two at the end of voting.

She last appeared in the Telegraph & Argus when she made it through to the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Contest.

Since then she has continued to develop her songwriting, as well as performing gigs in London, Bradford and Leeds.

In order to be in with a chance of winning the competition Naomi needs to get as many votes from users of Facebook or Twitter before the lines close tonight.
